Frequent Questions

What if I?m required to do something differently than what?s in the EPA recycling measurement approach?

EPA recognizes that some states and local governments will not be able to switch to this recycling measurement approach. Anyone required or wishing to continue with their own method can do so. For these cases, EPA provides a ‘translator worksheet’ (Worksheet A, PDF File, 80 KB) for states and local governments to recalculate their recycling rate. Using your current recycling rate data, the worksheet can be completed in a matter of hours. There also are many aspects of the guidance document that provide helpful tips and suggestions for recycling measurement that apply to anyone, not just those implementing the EPA methodology.
