Frequent Questions

What performance testing is required by the Hazardous Waste Combustion Emission Standards Rule?

The rule requires two types of performance testing to demonstrate compliance with the proposed MACT emission standards -- (1) comprehensive performance testing, and (2) confirmatory testing.

Comprehensive performance testing is to initially and periodically (every 5 years) demonstrate compliance with the emissions standards and establish revised operating limits, if necessary.

Confirmatory testing is required mid-way between comprehensive performance tests and involves only dioxin/furan testing under normal operating conditions.
