Frequent Questions

Are containment buildings required for all hazardous waste storage units at a large quantity generator (LQG) facility?

No large quantity generators may use any of the following types of units for accumulation of hazardous waste for less than 90 days: tanks, containers, drip pads, and containment buildings. Containment buildings are intended to be independent hazardous waste management units; existing tanks, containers, and drip pads do not need to be within containment buildings.
