Frequent Questions

Has the technical support for the Hazardous Waste Combustion Emission Standards Rule been peer-reviewed?

Yes. EPA had independent peer review panels review the risk assessment for the proposed rule and economic impact methodologies, and evaluate key engineering issues such as the applicability and capability of particular emission control equipment. EPA requested public comment on the peer review panel conclusions in a August 23, 1996 Notice of Data Availability and has considered the peer review and public comments in developing the final rule.
